Cassidy's latest assignment for music class was to make a musical instrument. She selected the Kalimba, which was made using a piece of hardwood and lots of popsicle sticks. The wood needed to be cut, another piece had to be pre-drilled and screwed into it, there was an awl involved, all of which I knew nothing about. I simply said, "Go see your father." It was a very complex project, but Cassidy was involved in all of it, from the measuring, to part of the cutting, to the sanding, staining, and shellacking. She had a blast and now has a plucky instrument that is truly one-of-a-kind. She selected green stain at Home Depot and them rubbed on Piglet appliques, before shellacking the finished product. It's so her!!!!!
